The Bronte Birthplace

The Bronte Birthplace, Thornton

Situated on Market Street in the village of Thornton on the outskirts of Bradford in the heart of West Yorkshire's Bronte Country is the Bronte Birthplace, where the Bronte Sisters (along with their brother Branwell) were born before moving to Haworth.

Since then the property has undergone several changes of use, and was at one stage even converted in to a restaurant. In the late 1990s the property was purchased and lovingly restored by the crime novelist Barbara Whitehead, who (with the support of the Bronte Birthplace Trust) opened up as a museum before having to sell in 2007. [N.B. For more information please see the items "Bronte Birthplace for sale" and "Bronte Birthplace sold" on the news section of the Bronte Country website.

The property is currently (at the time of writing) a private residence, and (as far as Eagle Intermedia is aware) there are no plans to open up to the public again at present.
